Monday Meadowbank 21:00

So, as I eat the leftovers of what can only be described as Teriyaki Arse meat, I reflect on an absolute classic of a Monday game. 2 teams exactly evenly matched 50 - 50 battles all over the pitch and a match that could have gone either way.

Nil nil for a good 20 minutes, shirts took the lead after a move that came directly through the middle of the bibs' defence as they put their target man to excellent use.

Bis hit back with a screamer from the edge of the area but shirts soon wrsetled back the lead with a low drive that snuck under the keeper's outstretched leg. Another followed as a well hit drive evaded bibs' bagman once again and the bibs had a 2 goal advantage.

Bibs pressed to cut the deficit, but a mistake at the back led to the shirts' 4th. Recriminations were put to one side (it was a team effort, everyone working together to fuck up) and the shirts set about the task of making it respectable. A well placed shot from distance cut the lead to 4-2 but again shirts restored their lead with a goal I don't remember. Chances were missed by both side as both keepers were in inspired form to keep their team in the game. Bars were rattled, headers were put wide and mazy runs came to nothing as the 2 teams slugged it out. Then bibs got 1 back and the feeling was that there could be more; there were still 10 minutes to play! Alas, tired legs and poor decision making turned the last 10 into a scrappy midden of loose balls and clearances, neither side able to put any meaningful play together. By the time bibs scrambled home their 4th to get within 1, it was game over. Fantastic match 5-4 to shirts. A great game played in a great spirit, really good fun, lads. Thankyou

Wednesday meadowbank 21:00

Close game tonight with some great ticky tacka, non bibs with the early lead, due to a man down after 20 mins a quick player change was in order! non bibs then took the game back level! I think the game ended 6-8 to bibs!! Goal of the game goes to @⁨~RB⁩ unfortunately was in his own net!! Thank you to all the guys that’s stayed and played two fast paced games tonight! See you all next week!

Meadowbank Wednesday 2000/2100

Wawaweewa! 2 epic games tonight - some brilliant football played in both - and at least half both games were made up of the same players so going to be a lot of tired legs tomorrow. There were some brilliant goals scored tonight and more than a few excellent passing moves. Just great fun all round. Happy New year guys, this bodes well for the coming year!

Wednesday night! Hump day or, as certain memebers of bibs team would call it 'A miss too far' 😜. Odd numbers for the 8pm game and those that didn't played missed an absolute classic. Bibs found themselves a goal up early doors. Good movement, passing and finish had the shirts down before they'd even learned each other's names.

Shirts stayed calm though and were soon putting pressure on the bib back line with hard, tricky running that pulled bib defenders in. 2 strong runs and layoffs ended in 2 goals for the shirts who also ended up a man extra. That advantage told and it was to the surprise of few when shirts added a third. Dissention was breaking out in the bib ranks and, to be honest it WAS a bit lop sided so, ever the gentleman (and the twat that picks the teams) your intrepid match reporter switched sides.

GAME. ON. Just as yours truly was pulling on a cheeky little neon number, the bib's rangy Trequartista went on a slaloming run that ended with a dinked finish and cut the deficit to just 1 goal. That looked to have been a false positive however as the new man in the bibs' ranks seemed to have upset the balance as shirts, now with the man disadvantage, went a further 2 up including a candidate (one of at least 3) for this year's Puskas award - a dribble past 3 defenders and a poke into the far corner. Poetry.

Could they be stopped? They could, but the bib front line did a fantastic job of letting them off the hook time and again. The woodwork was rattled an astonishing 10+ times, no lie. Coupled with absolute BUSINESS getting done by Brian 'The Lion' Stewart in the shirts' goal, the bibs laboured to make it even, requiring a goal and 2 WORLDIES (I think 1 was caught on camera) to give the bibs the slimmest of advantages. Into the final 10 and bibs knocked in a 7th to make it 2 up. It looked done but shirts wouldn't lay down, adding a 6th with a close range tap in to make for a grandstand finish. There would be no redemption for the brave shirts however and it would end 7-6 to the shirts. Proper game, boys.
